SENSORY PROCESSING DISORDERS AND FRAGILE X SYNDROME (FOR THERAPISTS)

May 31st, 2022

Bev Kadish, occupational therapist, webinar recording 31 May 2022.

Sensory processing difficulties are very common for children and adults who have Fragile X syndrome, and can impact daily living and behaviours.
Bev outlined the importance of creating a Sensory Diet and how to implement it practically; what sensory integration therapy is and how it helps with Sensory Processing Disorders; maintaining self-regulation for optimal performance.
Bev gave approaches to managing sensory processing disorders across a range of environments- home, school, day care centres etc to help give the person who has Fragile X syndrome the best chance to feel calm, alert and organised as a result of appropriate sensory input.

This recording was preceded by a session for CARERS/FAMILY MEMBERS on Sensory Processing and Fragile X syndrome on 24 May 2022.

The presenter Beverley Kadish has many years of experience in supporting children and adults who have Fragile X syndrome, both through the Fragile X Alliance clinic in Melbourne and her own private practice WriteStart OT.
