22 July 2025 | Lighting up for World Fragile X Day

July 20th, 2025

World Fragile X Day
is celebrated in many countries around the world on 22 July each year.

In Australia we invite significant landmarks in each state and territory to celebrate World Fragile X Day by illuminating in orange.  Our Fragile X Day illumination program began in 2016,  initiated by a Fragile X parent.  Brisbane City Council and Launceston City Council were the first to get behind our campaign.

The illumination program on 22 July is now international, thanks to FRAXA Research Foundation  and 22 July 2025 marks the 5th anniversary of World Fragile X Day   We expect to see 500 landmarks around the world celebrating!

In Australia in 2025 – thanks to strong support from Councils, infrastructure operators, NGOs and businesses around the country – we have an incredible 126 landmarks involved!  Brisbane City Council has promised an early kickoff on the night of Monday 21st – with Story Bridge, Victoria Bridge and other key city landmarks  leading us into World Fragile X Day.

What’s lighting up near you?? Check out our list of supporters.
